I’ve done interviews in the past, talking about my film and tv work. Once I did a live chat interview, and that was so much fun fielding questions from fans. Everyone seemed to have a great time. I’m posting this photo, in honor of some upcoming interviews I’ll be doing on horror sites to promote my novel, The Silence of Remembering. I was just interviewed for a book and it was the first time I spoke of my novel. It was fun! When I do the interviews I will post them. Rosella just made my day. She’s an Independent actress, producer, writer, and director of shows. And a big fan of my films, and TV work. She’s always positive and supportive. I really dig it. Hard work, hard work. You can read the first chapter and synopsis at the link above. There are not many books written anymore about a young man’s feelings. The Silence of Remembering is in the genre of Bright Lights Big City, Less Than Zero, The Cather in The Rye. Publishers are mistakenly ignoring the young sensitive male demographic. Everything in this genre is geared towards women, which I think is great, but I do think women will read about a young man’s journey. Woman love a man who is vulnerable. And my lead character, Alex, is a sensitive, vulnerable young man, struggling to over come the tragic loss of his little sister Tara, nicknamed Twigs. I have a hunch my novel will touch a nerve. Yeah that’s me in 2nd grade. I lived in that tshirt. My fav. While I was writing my novel The Silence Of Remembering I would think of this photo and the feeling it gave me. A confident kid on the outside, but inside having to cover family secrets. At that time I had to go to the doctor for severe migraines. This photo gave me the idea of how to tell the narrative in my novel from Twigs POV, she is in purgatory. Oh I could go on about the process. After much consideration I’ve decided to publish my novel The Silence of Remembering through https://www.inkshares.com/books/the-silence-of-remembering . I’m asking you to come on this journey with me. Yes, I’m nervous. You have to throw yourself out of your comfort zone. Believe me this is way, way outside of my comfort zone. I feel so strongly about what I’ve written that I will die if it does not see the light of a readers eyes. Here’s is the first paragraph.
CHAPTER I
IN THE early morning hour, my brother sits on the window ledge of his third floor apartment and wonders if he’ll survive the fall. The Santa Anas have swept in, and between gusts he closes his eyes, the bare branches click, click against one another, the dead leaves swirl and scrape across the street. The Santa Anas have a metallic taste, a desert heat drying up every pore of cold sweat. Another blast rattles the window, his boxer shorts flap, goose pimples shiver down his legs, he climbs back inside, closes the bedroom window, the noise from the wind and trees is deadened.
I could tell you about my pursuit of traditional publishing, query letters, lit agents etc.. I’ll save that for another time. Instead I’ll tell you why I’ve decided to go with Inkshares a hybrid publishing-crowd funding platform. Basically I have to hit a certain number of pre sales for my novel to be published. If I don’t, then all pre sales orders are refunded. So you the buyer loses nothing. Works for me. I like how they are upending traditional publishing. Publishers only seem to be interested in signing books that can be turned into mega franchise movies. I have nothing against that, but it leaves mid list writers behind, and does not develop new writers. I write literary fiction, which is not a consider a cash machine. Secretly I’d like to prove them wrong with my novel The Silence of Remembering. And I think there is a market for Literary Fiction. Since this is my first step into this new world of new publishing, please be patient with me. I will make mistakes.
